The snowstorms have provided us with plenty of powder. While it does make for slick roads it also does make for some fun snow games. We took the kiddos over to uncles to sled down their Bunny hill in their backyard. The kids and even us enjoyed it. After sledding we headed to uncles to drink hot chocolate and play games. A little video for remembrance and even pictures!
Our Christmas celebration went beautifully. The children had fun and
hubby and I enjoyed seeing their happy faces. The weather left us indoors most of the time, only hubby and Boyo ventured outside to shovel the snow from our driveway and help the neighbors clean theirs. We tried going to visit my BIL, however, the inclement weather made us turn around right away. We got to his house and Sam dropped off a turkey and we turned right back. We got about 10 inches of snow just in one evening and although the snowplows are very good around here, due to the holiday, they were a bit slower than usual. It was quite scary being outside when the snow kept coming down in buckets. Thankfully, we made it home and we stayed inside...nice and toasty.
Mom wasn't able to come visit this Christmas, but we spoke on the phone plenty and I chatted via Facebook with my brother quite a bit. Of course, my presents didn't get there in time for Christmas but neither one of them minded much. No one has ever complained about receiving a late present ;).
I called my Grandma and Grandpa in Mexico and I even called my Dad! Talking to my Abuelita is always nice and it makes me homesick for them and their company. The relationship with my Dad is still shaky and I don't know if we will ever have the nice close relationship that I yearn to have, however, calling him on the phone is taking me in the right direction. Definitely a great time on the phone with my family.
May your holidays be happy and safe.
With Much Love,
The Chubbette Purling Sprite :)
I had such a great laugh with this video that I had to put it here so you can too get a good laugh. If you haven't seen the movie, I don't know if you will get it but it is still funny. Enjoy!
When you can give forever, who do you give to?
Hourglass Hat is my latest Loom Knit pattern. You can find it and many others at Loom Knitters Circle Magazine--the Winter issue is now live!
I am so mad I want to smash it against the wall...but I know that smashing won't fix the problem. For a few weeks months now, it has given me fits. An error message keeps appearing anytime I want to use the Flash and then sometimes it doesn't want to shut off, just stays on. I kind of need to turn it off so I can get the error from the flash to go away. I have been putting it off sending it to get fix for three reasons
1)It is out of warranty and it may cost an arm and a leg
2)it may take forever to get it fixed
3)The closest repair shop is in California which means I have to ship the blooming thing to get it fixed
I love my camera. Next to it, my next more loved "item" is my bike. I am just so pissed that it got broken...I baby it more than I baby my kids!!! I don't even know how it got "damaged" was it like that from the factory? Is it the lens? I am so clueless when it comes to cameras but I am just so fed up with the non-working situation.
To sum it up...I am just pissed at the darn thing!
Big fluffy flakes coming down! If I were a skier or a snowboarder, I would be delighted but I don't do either...yet! It started snowing at 7am and by around 10am we had about 6-8 inches. Our family loves to go outside and shovel snow in our driveway and in all our neighbors driveways...we love being outside and talking to our neighbors while we all work together. It always reminds me of the hymn, "Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel". It is truly a blessing to be able to work together as a family. I was able to snap a few photos of my little family while they worked...note how even Wondergirl is helping to shovel! It is the first year that she actually helps. She told Sam, "this is hard work, Dad!" But despite being hard work, she shoveled with all her might and helped cleared the entire sidewalk. I love my family and I am grateful for the time we are able to spend together being of service to others.
Little Benny has been taking choir lessons since September and yesterday was their first performance. They delighted the parents and grandparents with a beautiful Christmas show. She is a shy little thing and performing in front of a crowd took her out of her comfort zone but she did splendid! Her soft voice can hardly be heard over all the other little voices but seeing her little lips move is a moment to be cherished. I would like to share a short video clip of my Little Benny's performance, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
She has enriched our lives with her presence. Her very laughter is enough to dispel any sadness or gloomy news around our house. She is our little angel, our little princess. Happy Birthday my little love.
For her birthday, we had her closest friends (all our little neighbors) come over and have a princess party. They all came dressed up as princesses and they had cake and ice cream. She loved having all her friends over all at once. They watched a princess movie, played with make up (kids make up), jewelry (plastic) and colored with crayons. Overall a really nice day for my little princess.
Although her birthday bash turned out a success, in the evening we had to take a ride to the Instacare unit here in town. She had been complaining of pain in her mouth, I thought it was just that she bit her cheek, unfortunately it wasn't that. She has little sores all over her cheeks that are preventing her from eating anything. A few days ago also she contracted pink eye from one of the kids at her preschool. She was on antibiotics for the pink eye. I am grateful she is well and although she has been plagued recently with a bunch of ailments, she is still our happy little one. She is truly a blessing to our family. In the worst of times, she just starts singing and makes us all forget our troubles.
Happy birthday little Nyah. Momma loves you.
The best conversations happen around dinner time at our house. We always try to have dinner together as a family just to bond a little more as a family. Today, Boyo came down the stairs wearing a plastic firefighter hat and the following conversation took place.
Sam: so what do you want to be when you grow up?
Boyo: a firefighter!
Sam: what else do you want to be?
Boyo: I don't want to be a Doctor, I don't want to be an Engineer, nor a Vegetarian!!!! ;)
Vegeratian and Veterinarian got a little confused in his head :)
Does it take to crash a car--to the side of the garage door?
Just ONE. Just ONE, very distracted Mom. Ugh! Side mirror is busted. I am such an idiot!

I dislike that the stores start putting Christmas decor around October and as soon as November rolls around, they start playing the music.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color?
My current favorite ornaments are all the crocheted ornaments I purchased from this one lady at the Novemberfest show. Every year since Sam and I got married we would go to Novemberfest to pick up one or two ornaments. I went this year and the lady wasn’t there. Sam said that she probably passed away. I was distraught. Anyways, I love those ornaments. I also love the ones we picked up at Disney and the NY Taxi one.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?
Mexican food all the way: tamales, pozole, more tamales, more pozole.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year?
I certainly do not need anything but I would love to have a new vacuum, a pair of dumbbells in size 12.5 lbs and 15 lbs, a Livestrong cycling jersey, some new cycling socks…but most of all, I just want to spend it with my husband and children. I want to see my children’s faces when they open their presents.
26. Who is most likely to blog about this?
27. Lights, blinking or always on?
Always on. Blinking lights give me a headache.
