Double Knit Keyhole Scarf Pattern

Scarf

A loomy pattern coming your way! I found this scarf in my stash room, the only thing that was missing from being and FO was the bind off--I remember starting this scarf about a year ago, hehehe, I am a procrastinator for sure! This scarf was knitted on a knitting board with 14 pegs, using the stockinette stitch.

Quicky pattern

Materials:

Knitting board with at least 14 pegs (14 pegs on each rail). Sample was knitted on a knitting board similar to a purple knifty knitter board loom. Pattern can be done on any knitting board, or any of the Knifty Knitter Long Loom series.

Yarn: 2.4 oz of worsted weight wool. Shown in Lamb's Pride worsted weight in pink (A) and grey (B).

Gauge: 10 sts and 11 rows= 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

With color A: Cast on 14 stitches with stockinette cast on method.

Next: (continue with color A) Work 10 rows in stockinette stitch (use the same method of wrapping as in the CO above). Break color A and join color B.

Next: With color B: Work 12 rows in stockinette stitch. Break color B. Join color A.

Next: With color A: Work 4 rows in stockinette stitch. Break color A. Join color B.

At this point, you will knit two single sided panels; first panel on the front 14 pegs, second panel on the back 14 pegs.

Join another skein of color A to the back rail of pegs.

Next: Work 12 rows in knit stitch on the front 14 pegs. Repeat with the back 14 pegs. Break yarn coming from the back rail.

At this point, you will work on the loom as a double sided loom.

Next: (continue with color A) work 4 rows in stockinette stitch. Break color A. Join color B.

Next: With color B: work 12 rows in stockinette stitch. Break color B. Join color A.

Next: With color A: work 10 rows in stockinette stitch. Break color A. Join color B.

Next: With color B: work 12 rows in stockinette stitch. Break color B. Join color A.

Next: With color A: work 10 rows in stockinette stitch. Break A.

Weave in ends. Block (optional).

To wear it: simply pass one of the ends through the gap made with the single sided panels. Enjoy!

Let me know if you make this scarf :), I would love to see pics, and if you need any assistance, drop me a note.

Hi, a little note from Holland. I love to knit your Fair Isle hat, but the round loom that you use I cannot buy in Holland. I have to do it with the knifty knitter. I must have a multiple of 12 so I can use the green one and repeat the pattern 3 times. The yellow one has 41 pegs, a very unhandy number. So what do I do? If the green loom is to small for my adult head? :-) Hope to hear from you and Isela, you brought a lot of pleasure to me and my new hobby. I made your beautifull cablesocks, a lovely shrug and a pullover and now I am trying your isle hat. Thank you so much.

I like it! I do some scarf knitting for charity, so maybe I'll figure out how to adapt this pattern for handknitting...

Great scarf pattern. Sounds easy. Those peek a boo hats, were they done on needles or looms? I can do either and love the idea of a liner for colder climates. It is to hot here in Texas but I send hats to Michigan and New York so they would like them I'm sure. Very pretty hats.I priced the book and yarn and it is about $27 plus shipping,I'll have to save up.Always something else I want. It never ends hee hee.

Do you ride with you children? I used to. Now my sons go to far. My oldest rode from Austin Texas to Anchorage Alaska (4500 miles in 70 days) so there is no way I'm doing that at 50 years old :-{ He rode in the first Texas 4000 ride for Cancer to raise money for the childrens cancer center. They are in the 4th year and have raised over $750,000 so far. He is the one that just got married.

Cute Scarf! Isn't great to find items like this lurking around! The best kind of instant gratifcation for a knittster!

Cute scarf!

I will give it a try, after I finish my hand knit socks. I am doing the heel flap/turn on the first one right now. The second one will go faster since I am making the pattern up as I go, and I will have made all the decisions on what I want by the time I knit the second one.

Huggz!

Thank you for another pattern and for inspiring me! I have a bunch of things almost off the needles that I just lost interest in. I forgot to let you know... the package arrived. Thanks! I blame work. :)
